In our Design and Technology lessons we have been exploring structures and mechanisms. We have used knex to build different structures to find out how to strengthen them and fix them together, we have also explored how gears, levers and motors work. We are going to use this knowledge to design and build our own programmable fairground rides.
As part of our computing lessons, we have linked Mathematics and Computing to create a program that creates regular shapes on the press of a key.
We used variables and procedures to create our program. We used our knowledge and some mathematical operations to calculate the angles to make squares, pentagons, hexagons, heptagons, octagons, nonagons, decagons, hendecagons and dodecagons.
In Science, we have been learning about Earth and Space. In today’s lesson we have continued our learning by looking at the Moon. We have learned about how long it takes to orbit the earth and why the moon appears to change shape. We then made a model of the different moon shapes using Jaffa Cakes.
